Originally chartered in 1843 under the name Laurensville, the historic city of Laurens now proudly serves as the county seat of Laurens County. In the present day, both residents and visitors have the privilege of experiencing a captivating blend of history and contemporary development. Notably, the "Laurens Historic District" stands out as one of the city's prominent features, encompassing the public square and most of the adjacent streets, earning its place on the National Register of Historic Places.
