Town of Mountville

Tucked between Clinton and Cross Hill on Highway 72, Mountville is a spot with a story. Back in the day, it all began with a post office in Beaverdam, named Mountville, probably because of a hill that looked like a mini mountain nearby. Then, in 1892, the Seaboard Railroad rolled through and a new town sprang up a couple of miles away, taking over the name. Today, you'll discover a serene and established community in southern Laurens County, where history whispers in the breeze.
